Seiko at the Forefront with Green Watches

Watch batteries, like any other sort of battery, are not good for the environment. Not only do they contain harmful chemicals but when you add to this the packaging they come in, which heads straight for the bin, and the carbon emitted whilst they are transported to the consumer, they really are not good for the environment at all.

Seiko watches were at the forefront of the green revolution with the introduction of their Kinetic range back in 1988. Kinetic watches are powered by the movement of your arm and so are completely ecologically sound. There is no need to replace the rechargeable battery, there’s no packaging and no wasteful byproducts. Along with solar powered watches, they really do provide a greener way to keep track of time!

So, How Does Your Kinetic Watch Work?

Kinetic watches are powered solely by the movement of your arm – converting kinetic movement into electrical energy. As you go about your normal daily activities the movements you make cause an oscillating weight to turn, which in turn makes rotor spin which creates a voltage across a coil block. This voltage adds power to the rechargeable battery within.

Seiko Watches, known as a technological powerhouse, were one of the first watch manufacturers to abandon traditional batteries when they introduced their Kinetic range back in 1988.

Within their range Seiko feature various kinetic watches which have different functions and styling like the Ultimate Kinetic Chronograph, the Kinetic Direct Drive, the Kinetic Chronograph, the Kinetic Perpetual, the Kinetic Auto Relay and the Kinetic G.M.T.
