Types of Watches

When it comes to choosing a watch there is a huge array of timepieces on the market to suit any taste and any pocket.

Historically watches used to be worn as a necessity for time keeping but now they are often worn as an adornment or status symbol. From Breil watches thru to Rolex, all the major watch companies offer an extensive range of watches. A popular watch type is an analogue watch. It has a face, numbers and dials. Digital watches display an LED readout of seconds, minutes and hours. They offer a range of specialised features, such as a calculator, phone book and stop watch facilities.

A quartz watch is powered by a battery as opposed to a traditional mechanical watch which is wound up through the use of a spring movement. With the advent of new technologies watches are constantly being updated and redesigned. Examples include kinetic energy power, solar power and waterproof and shock resistant watches.

Diving Watches

A diving watch is a specially designed timepiece which is suitable to be used underwater. First and foremost it is an essential piece of safety equipment. With the advent of advanced technology they are constantly being improved to allow them to go to greater depths.

Dive watches are required to incorporate import safety features in their design and must conform to specific standards. They need to have a clear face, distinguishable minute markings and visibility in darkness. The hands and markings are required to be luminous and they also need to be magnetic and shock absorbent.

The first diving watch was introduced in 1932 by Omega. As they became more popular as a fashion item, as the likes of Jacques Cousteau and James Bond sported them, other watch companies jumped on the band wagon.  Seiko watches have a great range of durable and stylish dive watches on offer that they are constantly redesigning and up-dating with the latest technology.
