The Development of Clocks

Water Resistant Watches

Seiko 49er Speed Challenge Record

At the recent “Sail for Gold” regatta in Weymouth a new world record was set at the Seiko watches sponsored Seiko 49er Speed Challenge.

The previous record was broken by Australian brothers Sam and Will Phillips with a speed of 24.1 knots. The winners were presented with cheques totaling $3000 and they both received a Seiko Velatura Yachting Timer Watch.

This striking timepiece is a high performance chronograph watch. Its features include a special pre set yachting countdown timer, an alarm, split time measurements satisfying the requirements and needs of any type of sailor.

Unusual Watch Designs

From Breil watches to Rolex all watch companies are constantly trying to incorporate new designs and technology to bring exciting designs to the market.

Some watchmakers, however, take their designs to the extreme by creating timepieces that are unusual and quirky. The JLR7, for example, has a watch face featuring a series of LED which illuminate intermittently. The Eleno Webtime Elite has an usual watch face that relies on the points of a moving octagon shape pointing at figures to display the time.

Other strange and unusual watches include the Shinshoku wrist band which used LED lights to display the time and the 10001001001 Japanese watch uses binary numbers to tell the time. The Azimuth Mecha-1 and the Cabestan Winch are also quirky timepieces that make telling the time quite an experience.
