First based on the banks of Lake Maggiore, on the Swiss/Italian border line, Innocente Binda, a master timepiece manufacturer since 1906, was inspired to blend Swiss technical brilliance with the still unmatched Italian aesthetic. A move to the fashion center Milan on 1930 brought him a stage closer to achieving his ambitions and in 1937 the Breil brand was launched

A cross between quality engineering with a high fashion element brought the brand an over night cult following, however it was not until Marcell and Simone, grandsons of Innocente Binda, joined the company in 1995 that the brand really took off.

Breil was in the optimum position to benefit from the shifting face of the watch industry – the Swiss timepiece although famous for accuracy lacked the polish the growing fashion pack demanded whilst fashion houses often manufactured watches of lesser quality. The advertising campaign that hit Italy that summer was headed up with the slogan ‘Take anything but my Breil’ and featured international supermodels Talisa Soto, Monica Belluci and Carrie Otis wearing oversized watches that would have been previously considered the preserve of men. The unisex soul of the collection symbolises the brand’s individuality and ideals: strength and sensuality.

The styling is unquestionably modern and Italian – chunky yet stylish with a whole range of features on many models including chronograph, dual time, water resistance to a variety of depths. Breil has recently added to its sports pedigree by partnering with legendary Italian Superbike manufacturer Ducati, for whom Breil has designed a quartz chronograph in titanium or steel.

From this stage Breil has achieved the unimaginable, becoming the number one selling watch brand in Italy by value, in just 6 years, outstripping competitors as imposing as Gucci and Cartier with over 700,000 pieces sold in 2002. The brand was launched into the main markets in Europe in 2002 and launched in the UK in 2003.
